Tips Solving Sentence Code Reasoning
Reasoning ability testing questions is an integral part of every exams conducted by banks, financial institutions, educational institutions etc. These exams are intented to test the logical mindset of the candidate and how well he arrives at conclusions. Verbal and non-verbal are the two wide parts in reasoning questions. Coding and decoding is a special part in verbal reasoning. I am posting here a small tip to handle sentence coding questions.
Please take note that there may be connection, similarity between the questions and the clues which leads to the answer. They may not look to be so on the plain reading. Sometimes you have to take the question for granted. Threre may not be any meaning and conclusion in the statements. In such case you will have to follow the given rules. Now, sentence coding can be of different types. For the sake of easy digestion for your brain, I am posting the questions with clues having no meaning; otherwise you may get confused.
Q If Pal Dal Mol means Very Good Boy; Dal Kal Jal means Good And Great; Kal Sol Tal means Great Is Big, which word stands for Great?
Wow! Wonder how could you arrive at the answer. Here is the method.
A small TIP
Pal Dal Mol = Very Good Boy
Dal Kal Jal = Good And Great
Kal Sol Tal = Great Is Big
Write the words and clues as shown below:
I II III
Pal Very Dal Good Kal Great
Dal Good Kal And Sol Is
Mol Boy Jal Great Tal Big
Now you got three tables. Never conclude that each artificial word has its meaning in the word given in its side. Now you have some exercise. Find out the same words, both meaningful and meaningless, in the three tables and score it off. For eg. when taking the meaningless words which are in the left hand side of each table we could find that there is word Dal in the Table I and Table II. Now there should be a meaningful word associated with the word Dal which will also be common in both the Tables. Good is the word which is present in both Table I and II. Now look for other words. There is Kal in Table II and III. There is Great in Table II and III. So the answer is simple Kal is the word for Great.
Now a different question will make it more clearer.
Q2. Pit Dar Na means You Are Good;
Dar Tok Pa means Good And Bad;
Tim Na Tok means They Are Bad;
Which word means They?
Following the above method we can ascertain it with ease:
I II III
Pit You Dar Good Tim They
Dar Are Tok And Na Are
Na Good Pa Bad Tok Bad
Now score off the same words. Dar is present in meaningless words in Table I and II. In the same way Good is present in meaningful words in Table I and II. Tok is present in meaningless words in Table II and III. In the same way, Bad is present in meaningful words in Table II and Table III. Na is present in Table I and Table III. In the same way, Are is present in Table I and Table III. Now the remaining words in Table III are Tim and They. So They is Tim.
