1787: Delaware ratified US Constitution
Delaware ratified the US constitution. It was the first State to do so. Thus it became the first state to join in the modern United States. There were 30 members in the Delaware Constitutional Convention which ratified the Constitution.
1941: Pearl Harbor attacked
Japanese bomber planes attacked Pearl Harbor, a US Naval base situated on the Oahu island, Hawaii. This surprise attack caused the US entry into World War II. About 2403 Americans were killed in the attack. December 7 was later designated as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in August 1994.
1972: Appolo's last crew
Eugene Andrew Cernan steered the last crew ship to the Moon. This was the end of the Appolo mission.
1982: Lethal Injection
On this day in that year, the first execution by injecting lethal chemicals took place in the world. The incident took place in Huntsville, Texas. Charles Brooks, Jr. was the convict. The offense was murder. Sodium Pentathol was administered to him.
1988: Armenian Earthquake
On this day, Armenia suffered two earthquakes. 6.9 and 5.8 were the measurements of the earthquakes. Almost 60000 people were killed. 5 lakh (half million) buildings were destroyed. Spitak and Leninakan were the two cities where the earthquakes occurred.
2004: Afghanistan's first Elected President
Afghanistan's first elected President Hamid Karzai sworn in this day.
