1933: US Constitution Amendment
The 21st amendment to US Constitution was ratified so as to end an era of national prohibition of alcohol brought about by the 18th amendment. Utah was the 36th state which ratified the same.

A smog that ravaged London for four days killed nearly 4700 people.
1955: Bus Boycott
US Montgomery Bus Boycott began with Martin Luther King Jr. with its leader. This was the result of a continuous effort to end segregation policies in public transport.
1978: Friendship Treaty
U.S.S.R and Afghanistan signed a "friendship treaty" whereby the Soviet Union agreed to provide economic and military assistance to Afghan government.
1994: START 1
